3ds Max 2015 Spline Cloth Sim Large Collision Mesh Problem Polycount I'm trying to do a quick cloth sim to just get some nice cloth distortion and save me the trouble of sculpting it in zbrush. i'm in sp2. cloth works perfectly fine with poly objects, just not when it's a spline converted to poly. It's normally being pinched some place, folding in on itself and unable to straighten it back out, or your settings are really loose and springy with the gravity cranked too high. it might sound weird but typically you want a lot more verts to have smooth cloth simulations.

3ds Max 2015 Spline Cloth Sim Large Collision Mesh Problem Polycount I have a problem with cloth collision, it all worked properly before and now when i set the collision object and click to simulate, it just goes through (it just affects the shape of cloth a little). If you find the cloth is passing through the collison object only slightly, then just increase the collision offset value. one other thing to try is using the garment maker for the cloth mesh, rather than a high density plane. Sim group seems to work and physics is affecting your cloth, it seems that the properties of your cloth are making it too stretchy too heavy. edit: if you by any chance have simulated cloth before creating a sim group, then just added the sim group after, it may cause some issues that would give similar results as seen. The only solution then: scale your slav figure up by a factor of 100 or 1000, then make and simulate your clothing for it. when ready, collapse the cloth to an editable poly, scale the slav figure and the cloth back to normal size and continue with skinnung.

When i set it all up and run the simulation the cloth just falls straight through the collision object. i am basically trying to make a tarp sort of thing draping over a storage box eventually but nothing works, even the tests. I am looking for a possibility to project a spline on a mesh with 3dsmax 2015. is there a tool for this. i know the "create shape" from the drop down menu, but this is not what i am looking for. There is a modifier called ''garment maker". you should apply it on your spline before adding a cloth. check out autodesk's help page for it. it's pretty straightforward. you can change the tessellation and even add seams if necessary. in a way, it's a basic marvelous designer. Your first problem could be a couple of things you'll need to try. when you create a curve from a surface, it's going to put a vert anywhere there was a vert on the edge you selected to make the spline.
