Looks like its time to get a thread started. see attached current regs from the odfw site for seasons. I’ve been fishing ( and doing quite well with ) spinfish for the last few years. i rig them 2 different ways, i always use 40# leader ,and almost always 28” from bill of spinfish to the swivel, at buoy 10, i rig them with 2or 3 beads below spinfish to a swivel and then a single hook, oftentimes adding a skirt to it, especially for coho. Buddy got 2 keeper coho while bottom fishing 3 arch today on shrimp flies. 100’ of water. he was obviously using barbless hooks. we had a fair day. wasn’t great. between 190’ 240’. i just did a wndfinder, windy, noaa deep dive. we are looking at almost 10 days of bloody decks.

Let go probably 15 20 really nice wild coho and a couple hatchery dinks to get my two 8 10 pound hatchery coho by 8:45am. bite was starting to slow down but was still getting bit every 15 minutes or so towards the end. Tried fishing deep with 16oz weights all day thinking coho probably went deep given beautiful weather and gin clear water. ended the day with one keeper coho at about 6lbs. The columbia river coho return includes both early and late returning stocks. a subcomponent of this run is the esa listed lower columbia natural (lcn) coho. the total 2024 return was 602,620 adult coho, comprised of 422,211 early stock fish and 180,409 late stock fish. both early and late stocks returned above forecast. the 2025 forecast for the columbia river coho return is 342,100 adults.
