The results of the 44 studies have reported 32 factors that demotivate the foreign language learners, however, the number of the factors mentioned by different studies vary (see table 2). Internal and external factors causing demotivation in learning the second language were determined in this study. the college students in the university of eastern philippines main campus are “much demotivated” on the internal factors. Language learners’ demotivation is one of the key reasons for their failure or poor progress in learning a foreign language. the study aimed to identify the key demotivating factors in learning the language. findings of the 44 published studies in the past years were analyzed.
