Do You Guys Think This Is Balanced R Dndhomebrew Any party composition is possible to balance for if the dm is skilled. that said, here’s my pick for the most capable 3 person party: paladin for martial, good saves, nova potential, athletics checks, healing. R dndhomebrew covers all your needs for homebrew d&d content. do you want unique options for your games? do you feel limited by the official ones? if so, this sub is for you. Generally for 3 person party composition, if i were going for efficiency i'd probably do something along the lines of one wizard, one tanky class such as paladin or barbarian, and one class with heavy dpr or a skill monkey, depending on how skilled the rest of your party is and what they lack. A balanced party is three or more players able to set aside multiple hours per week (or fortnight) to play, engage with the world their dm has built and have fun.

Honestly, i’d recommend a party of half casters. artificer, paladin, ranger. among them you have the skill versatility, healing, combat capability, and tool usage to do practically anything. artificer can heal, buff, debuff, provide magic items complementary to the group or the mission at hand. I haven't played 5e yet, but as a player of 1st, 3rd, and 3.5, i think it takes 3 characters to form a well rounded party. the classic build is fighter, rogue, and cleric for offense, traps, and healing magic respectively. That said, i have noticed group balance playing a significant role in player satisfaction. i can balance a campaign around a group of only wizards as a dm, but some of those players may struggle to find a clear role or identity in a group where their skills are easily duplicated by someone else. You have enough on your plate as it is with all the dming stuff and trying to balance monsters for the players, let them do some of the hard work. if they wipe because they have no support, then they wipe.
