Engine Start System Fault Error Audiworld Forums New user on the the forum. i bought a certified pre owned 2016 a6 last year. i get the error "engine start system fault. please contact dealer." intermittently. it has been happening for the past few months. it will show up every time i start the car and than goes away after a few days. only to re occur after a week or so. the car has no issues. Q5 sq5 mkii discussion fault engine start system: malfunction! so i just bought an sq5. they replaced the tires and i went to look at it and it had this fault along with the tps fault.

Fuses in rear, on battery, dash sides, in engine bay and under dash. have you connected anything to the can network. even if its been working fine previously; remove it. remove the connectors from the bcm and check for any contact issues or corrosion. no joy then look at the relays under the dash and engine bay box and swap same for same. Engine Start System Fault Page 2 Audiworld Forums Hi guys, i’ve recently received this error when starting the engine in my a3 8v. the car behaves normally, the only thing is it beeps and show a car key icon on the display. i’ve searched this subreddit but haven’t seen anyone with resolution to this problem. The error message was "vehicle starting system: malfunction!" the problem was in chewed up wires. rodent damage. I scanned the car with my obdeleven tool and i got a fault in the comfort system, "ctrl. module faulty". i tried clearing the fault, but it will not clear. originally there were 17 faults, all of them cleared except this one. i guess a trip to the dealer is coming up. Yo guys, has anyone had this engine start system fault? car starts fine, runs fine turns off etc etc. just curious if anyone has had before? if the battery is in any way suspect i would change it. just an update on this. Do you meant start stop system? nope engine start system it says. start stop works fine. when the engine is running i can turn ignition all the way off and the engine remains running. only stops when i pull the key out. i don’t know that code but seems like an issue with the ignition key barrel. So out of the blue, this happened but the engine still starts. i tried both keys, same thing. any trick to getting rid of this or do i need to visit the dealer? anyone experienced this before?.
