From what i observed, the 997 cluster will not fit without hacking up the dash. once you do that, you would still need to make a custom surround piece because the factory 987 cluster shade won't work, nor will the 997 piece.

I presume someone was doing 100 mph at 5000 rpm right before their porsche went into a wall and the gauges froze in that position. i would like to test these gauges myself by at least sending 12volt to it, but without a wiring diagram i cannot determine what any of the the 32 pins do. The instrument cluster can be removed without removing the steering wheel. if you are adding a new cluster you will need to code it to your vehicle. The 997 instrument cluster can display all the information that is on the bus, so a simple adaptation of the gateway from 987 to 997 would have to unlock the information.

What i ended up doing was finding a 997.2 cluster on ebay and transferring my mileage to it from my 987.2 cluster. all the gauges work perfectly. i peeled back the leather dash covering, cut out spaces for the extra gauges and got it to fit. Long story short, i'm looking for a pinout or a wiring diagram for this cluster that will help me in my quest.
