Boardgamegeek Once upon a time is a card game for all ages, from 2 to 8 players. the first edition game components consist of a four page rule booklet, which is roughly 50% examples, and two decks of cards. one deck of cards (the "happy ever after" deck) contains 36 cards, and the other (the "once upon a time" [ouat] deck) contains 108 cards. the card. 1. read the rules carefully, as there are a few that you may miss that have been specifically designed to help to keep the story under control. 2. this is purely a card game with no other tokens or pieces, and no board or tableau setup is required – all you do is play the cards in one big pile and draw from the deck. Should you buy once upon a time? we review this rpg inspired card game that anyone can play. this review covers parental guidance. Reviewing this game isn't easy, for a couple of reasons. firstly, because hyperbole is not a good thing to use in reviews. nobody believes it, and it tends to arouse suspicion, even hostility, in the reader. and yet, i do seriously think this is one of the greatest games ever written.

Reviewing this game isn't easy, for a couple of reasons. firstly, because hyperbole is not a good thing to use in reviews. nobody believes it, and it tends to arouse suspicion, even hostility, in the reader. and yet, i do seriously think this is one of the greatest games ever written. Once upon a time: the storytelling card game (designed by richard lambert, andrew rilstone and james wallis) brings that feeling back and lets you step into the role of the brothers grimm or walt disney, writing stories which will be spoken of for years to come… at least by whoever was at the table at the time. The aim of the game is to play all of your story cards in your hand first before skewering the story to your ending card whilst at the same time contributing to the development of a rich and. Originally released in 1993 and still very much in print, once upon a time isn’t really a game at all, more of a card based structured activity, but since that’s rather a mouthful we’ll stick with game for the time being. there are two decks of cards, a small deck of “ending” cards which contain a paragraph suitable for ending a fairy.
