It's kind of ridiculous to say that teachers shouldn't be able to dictate what tools students use in their class. it's reasonable to use a calculator to take care of arithmetic in a calculus class, but if you're teaching kids to add letting them use a calculator defeats the purpose. The commission is fairly ridiculous, and i started with preply just to get my confidence up when i started teaching online with another company and felt very rusty. i didn't think i'd stick with it but personally the students have been great i currently teach around 30 hours per week on preply and the vast majority of my students are people i would happily have a drink with if they came to. Students and non teachers may not ask for homework help, complain or vent (about your teachers, classes, school rules, etc.), or make inappropriate comments about teachers. we suggest r askhsteacher and r teenagers as alternative subs for your interests. this rule also applies to pre service teachers and others asking us to plan your lesson.
