This issue of casey connects spotlights the foundation’s efforts on 2 fronts: 1) helping kids in foster care find loving, permanent families; and 2) reducing racial disparities throughout the child welfare system.
Foster The Family Eetings as a first step in creating foster birth parent alliances developed by the annie e. casey foundation’s family to family initiative, icebreaker meetings are designed to be the first step in building a connection between birth parents and foster parents and preparing them. Texas child centered care, or t3c, is a state wide initiative aimed at improving the foster care system by fostering better coordination and collaboration among various stakeholders. t3c focuses on enhancing the quality, consistency, and reliability of care for children in the foster system. Cb provides funding to states and tribes to provide safe foster care placements for children and youth who cannot remain in their homes. our funding also provides assistance to youth aging out of foster care so that they can achieve self sufficiency. The family to family initiative has been an opportunity for states and communities to reconceptualize, redesign and reconstruct their foster care system to achieve the following new systemwide goals:. The family to family initiative has encouraged states to reconceptualize, redesign, and reconstruct their foster care systems. by 1996, the initiative was being implemented in five states, five georgia counties, and los angeles county, california. Our child welfare programs offer a continuum of support to out of home caregivers. our clinicians use an evidence based trauma sensitive behavioral approach to provide training and clinical support to families who support children from hard places. Tfi continues to create new resources and develop innovative solutions as we work to meet the needs of children and families. we provide various services to the community, including foster and kinship care, case management, domestic adoption, counseling support and education, foster parent training and visitation and exchange centers.
