The health and aging policy fellows program: creating a lasting legacy. the program counts 153 fellows and alumni to date who, individually and collectively, shape policies that address the complex health needs of older americans. The program is creating a growing cadre of leaders to improve the health of older adults by influencing policy at the state and national levels that is joined through an alumni network of more than 150 fellows. The health and aging policy fellows program has a broad interdisciplinary focus and aims to create a cadre of leaders who will serve as change agents in health and aging policy to ultimately improve the health care of older adults. Fellows are chosen through a national selection process based on (a) commitment to health and aging issues and improving the health and well being of older americans; (b) potential for leadership in health policy; (c) professional qualifications and achievements; (d) potential impact of the fellowship experience on the applicant's career; and.
