There are a lot of reasons to love hackathons. you get to meet some new people in a casual way, you get a bunch of free food and merch, but most of all, it’s a focused weekend project for you to really grow as a developer. My experience of developing google assistant app i recently built one app in hackathon. Hackathons aren't about what you know they are about what you can learn. i have seen people without tech backgrounds have an awesome time at hackathons. in one hackathon that i didn't end up winning, i still got to learn a lot about coding for the arduino, and met some great people.
